Laser-cut parts FAQ

Before the sheet
hits the laser.

If you do not have a perfect production file, send the information you do have. We will tell you what is needed to quote the flat part accurately.

What kinds of laser-cut metal parts do you make?+

ThiessFabs cuts flat 2D brackets, blanks, shims, spacers, panels, tags, guards, templates, plates, and other custom profiles. One-off replacement parts, prototypes, and short matching runs are welcome.

What materials can you laser cut?+

We cut mild steel, galvanized steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Common steel work ranges from 20 gauge through 1/4 inch, while aluminum projects are reviewed up to 4 mm based on the part and material.

How large can a laser-cut part be?+

The fiber-laser bed is 10 by 5 feet. Maximum practical part size can depend on the sheet, material, thickness, edge detail, handling, and shipping requirements.

What file types can I send?+

DXF and SVG files are ideal, but you can also upload a PDF, PNG, JPG, dimensioned drawing, sketch, or clear photo. We review what you provide and confirm whether any missing dimensions are needed.

Can you make just one part?+

Yes. ThiessFabs specializes in one-off work and short runs as well as matching quantities. The project builder applies automatic quantity discounts to eligible repeat parts.

How accurate will my parts be?+

Accuracy depends on material, thickness, part geometry, hole size, heat input, and the dimensions that matter to the assembly. Identify critical features in your drawing or notes so we can review them before quoting.

How quickly can you cut custom parts?+

Raw laser-cut parts typically take 2–7 business days after the design, material, price, and payment are confirmed. Quantity, material availability, complexity, and secondary work can affect the timeline.

Do you ship laser-cut parts?+

Yes. Eligible projects can be shipped across the United States, and pickup in Brighton is free. Enter your ZIP code for an estimated shipping range; large or heavy projects receive a custom quote.
